According to statistics, Tan Lac district has more than 80% of the population being Muong people. As one of the four large Muong regions of the province, the Muong ethnic group in Tan Lac still retains quite intact the system of customs, festivals, folk songs, traditional crafts, folk games creating unique features and attractiveness for tourists when approaching this land. Not only preserving, the Muong people in Tan Lac are also very conscious in applying and practicing in daily life to create a strong vitality for those heritages, typically including teaching how to perform, practice the epic "De dat, de nuoc" (Giving birth to the land and water), Mo Muong songs (Muong traditional epic), performing Muong gong folk songs, Muong folk songs, organizing festivals such as Khai Ha Muong Bi, Ke pagoda festival, traditional stream fishing
festival of Lo Son commune, etc. Every year, these activities have contributed to attracting a large number of tourists from near and far to visit, experience and learn about the customs, beliefs and daily life of local people.

Besides, Tan Lac also owns lands with rivers, lakes, poetic landscapes, typically Ngoi Hoa Bay located in Hoa Binh Lake Tourist Area with a clear blue lake, surrounded by towering limestone cliffs, creating an extremely majestic scene. More specifically, Tan Lac also has highland villages located at an altitude of 800 - 1000 meters above sea level, with a temperate climate, fresh and cool air all year round with the wild beauty typical of the Northwest mountains and forests, helping visitors always feel peaceful and relaxed during their vacations here.
In recent years, realizing the tourism potential of Tan Lac, investors have come and invested in many large projects such as: Ngoi Hoa Eco-tourism Project with an area of over 115 hectares, registered capital of about 475 billion VND; V'Star - Ngoi Hoa Eco-tourism Project with an area of nearly 184 hectares, registered capital of 125 billion VND gradually building the Tan Lac tourism brand with domestic and international tourists. In 2024, Tan Lac district welcomed over 300,000 tourists, including nearly 8,000 international visitors, with total tourism revenue reaching over 212,000 billion VND.

In addition, the Standing Committee of the Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee also issued Resolution No. 13-NQ/TU, dated October 17, 2022 on "Building the highland communes of Tan Lac district into provincial-level tourist areas by 2030, with a vision to 2050". Directing all levels, sectors and localities to resolutely participate, promote advantages, build attractive and unique tourism products to attract tourists, thereby creating livelihoods for people, contributing to improving the quality of life, promoting local socio-economic development.
