On the evening of November 17, at Hoa Binh Square (Hoa Binh City), within the framework of the Culture - Tourism Week of Hoa Binh Province in 2024, the Ethnic Costume Show of Hoa Binh Province took place. Attending the event were Mr. Nguyen Van Toan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Provincial Culture - Tourism Week; leaders of departments, branches, districts, cities, and a large number of people and tourists.
In the opening speech, Mrs. Quach Thi Kieu, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, introduced: Hoa Binh is a land rich in historical and cultural traditions; it is home to ethnic minority communities, the largest of which is the Muong ethnic group, followed by the Kinh, Thai, Tay, Dao, and Mong ethnic groups. The ethnic groups have both common cultural and religious features, as well as their own traditional cultural and religious features, which are unique, rich, and diverse. Along with language, costumes are a traditional cultural heritage with easily recognizable characteristics of each ethnic group, containing artistic and historical values of each ethnic group. Each ethnic group has its own standards of costumes to create suitability and distinction according to gender, age and social status. Decorative art on costumes is also very diverse, with its own shaping style, or motifs with its own themes and techniques of expression, etc. these are symbols and characteristics of the culture of each ethnic group.

The Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism emphasized: “In order to continue promoting and introducing the unique value of traditional costumes of ethnic groups in the province to domestic and international tourists, the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Culture and Tourism Week of Hoa Binh Province organizes the Ethnic Costume Show of Hoa Binh Province. Through the program, we hope to arouse the aspiration and pride in the precious cultural heritages of each ethnic group. This is also a unique cultural space for artisans, artists, and mass actors of the six main ethnic groups in the province to exchange and share experiences in preserving and promoting traditional culture, strengthening solidarity, building a healthy and progressive cultural life; at the same time, promoting the development of tourism in the province”.
With the theme "Muong ethnic culture", the program is one of the six main contents of the Culture - Tourism Week to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of ethnic groups; enhance the promotion and introduction of tourism potential and cultural heritage of ethnic groups and the hospitality of the ethnic people of Hoa Binh province. The costumes displayed in the program are sponsored by Ao Dai (long dress) designers Quynh Hoa, Comple Tuan Anh and Hong Thom ethnic costume tailor (Hoa Binh city). Organizing the costume show within the framework of the festival creates a cultural space, promoting the image of costume identity through tourism channels.
Traditional costumes of the Thai ethnic group
In the program, more than 120 actors, technicians, choreographers, and workers performed costumes in order of the following ethnic groups: Muong, Thai, Dao, Tay, Mong, Kinh. The performance combined music and images, performing dances, songs, and folk games to create a joyful and lively atmosphere. Demonstrating the creativity and ingenuity of the people, the traditional costumes of the ethnic groups of Hoa Binh province with outstanding cultural identities of the ethnic groups were performed on the stage of Hoa Binh Square, creating a colorful picture, contributing to promoting Hoa Binh tourism - a safe, friendly, and impressive destination.
